Aluminum Sheets Aluminum Panel Sheet 98.9% Al Plate 6063 T6 With Excellent Corrosion Resistance
6063 aluminum alloy is heat treatable, weld-able, good at resisting corrosion and easily formed. It is a top choice for extrusion because of its properties, as it is easily pushed through a die into many fixed-cross sectional shapes. This alloy is distinguished from another popular 6xxx series alloy, 6061 aluminum alloy, by its percentages of alloying elements . 6063 aluminum’s compositional breakdown is 0.7% Mg, 0.4% Si, and 98.9% Al, which is slightly more basic than 6061 aluminum’s composition. Note that these numbers fluctuate based on manufacturing desires or natural impurities, within certain tolerances. Type 6063 aluminum’s density is 2.7 g/cm3 (0.0975 lb/in³) and is about the same as pure aluminum metal. There are only slight differences between 6061 and 6063 aluminum, but the most noticeable of them is that 6063 is less strong but more easily formed, making it invaluable for complex, extruded projects.
Applications of 6063 Aluminum
As previously discussed, 6063 aluminum is often used in extrusion projects because of its good workability, weldability, and moderate strength. These properties allow 6063 aluminum to excel in architectural applications, and it is used so often in this manner that it is commonly referred to as “architectural aluminum”. 6063 aluminum alloy is therefore used in the below examples, but know that this is nowhere near an all-encompassing list:
